Who We Are

About Stoney Creek

A faithful church in Elizabethton, Tennessee — devoted to God, to Scripture, and to one another.

Our Story

Simply Christians

Stoney Creek Church of Christ has served the Elizabethton community for generations. Our congregation is part of the Restoration Movement — a plea begun in the early 1800s to return to the simple Christianity of the New Testament.

We are not affiliated with any denomination. We have no headquarters beyond heaven, no creed beyond the Bible, and no name above the name of Christ.

Our congregation is led by elders who shepherd this flock, served by deacons, and taught week by week from the Word of God.

Our Convictions

What We Believe

The Bible

We believe the Bible is the inspired, authoritative Word of God — the complete and sufficient guide for faith and practice. We seek to speak where the Bible speaks and remain silent where it is silent.

2 Timothy 3:16–17

One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism

We follow the New Testament pattern for becoming a Christian: hearing the gospel, believing in Jesus Christ, repenting of sin, confessing faith, and being baptized by immersion for the forgiveness of sins.

Acts 2:38; Ephesians 4:5

The Lord's Supper

We observe the Lord's Supper every Sunday, as the early church did, remembering the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Acts 20:7; 1 Corinthians 11:23–26

A Cappella Worship

Our worship includes singing with our voices as the New Testament instructs — making melody in our hearts to the Lord.

Ephesians 5:19; Colossians 3:16

The Church

We are simply Christians — members of the church Jesus built and purchased with His own blood. We wear no denominational name and follow no creed but Christ and the Scriptures.

Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:47

Our Hope

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the dead and the return of Jesus Christ. Our hope is eternal life with God — the promise He has made to all who are faithful.

John 11:25; 1 Thessalonians 4:13–17

Our Foundation

“For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”

1 Corinthians 3:11

Come See for Yourself
